...Yeah, I think to get federal student loans discharged you have to go above and beyond the standard Bankruptcy.
The hurdles to clear to have them discharged are extremely high and most attorneys suggest that it is not worth the effort. I guess because if you are actually eligible to have them discharged there is no way that you would be able to pay an attorney. The level of poverty and hopelessness isn't only required of the present, but your future must appear to be as bleak as all get out too.
Probably to the equivelant of being in a serious accident with nobody to sue, and absolutely no hope of ever earning a living.

Be careful when considering using companies offering credit counseling and debt consolidation services. Do a little reading to learn from other peoples experiences with debt consolidation and credit counseling.
